What is Katana?
Katana is an Ethereum Layer 2 network built specifically for DeFi. By concentrating on-chain liquidity in a few core protocols, it offers users deeper liquidity and sustainable on-chain yields. The main protocols currently include Sushi (a decentralized exchange) and Morpho (a lending market).
How it Works
Liquidity Specialization
Katana assigns swaps to Sushi and lending to Morpho, preventing similar protocols from diluting liquidity. This approach reduces slippage and improves capital efficiency.
Vault Bridge & Yield Flowback
When you bridge assets to Katana using the official Katana Bridge, you’ll receive the corresponding vb assets (such as vbUSDC, vbUSDT, or vbWBTC). On Ethereum, the underlying assets are deposited into yield vaults, and the generated yield flows back into the Katana ecosystem to strengthen liquidity pools and reward active users.
Chain-Owned Liquidity
Katana allocates sequencer fees and part of its protocol revenue to chain-owned liquidity pools. This foundational liquidity buffer helps stabilize interest rates, reduce slippage, and enhance market depth during periods of volatility.
